General FAQ

When is your attendant desk open?

Our attendants are onsite Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. and from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturdays.  No attendant is available on Sunday.

Can I drop of items after hours?

Yes. If you cannot make it in during the service desk hours you can always fill out a service ticket and drop your garments in our after hours drop box.

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept cash and debit.  Commercial accounts can arrange payments terms and pay by cheque.

How do I sign up for the rewards program and how much does it cost?
Our rewards program(Vicinity Rewards) is absolutely free!  Ask one of our attendants to sign up and they will add you into our system.  Earn one Vicinity point for every $10 spent. Redeem your Vicinity points for in store services.  Get all the details in store at Guelph cleaners or at Vicinity Rewards.

Can I bring my pet into your laundromat?

Yes, pets are welcome but please ensure that they are under control and do not cause problems for other laundromat customers.

Do you have Wi-Fi?

Yes, we offer free Wi-Fi to our customers.

Laundromat FAQ

What hours are you open?
We are open 7 days a week 365 days a year from 6 am until 12 midnight.  We allow you to start washing as late at 10 pm and stay until you are finished.
How do I know which machine to use and how do I use it?
We are staffed full time by experienced customer service representatives who will be happy to advise you on the appropriate machine to use and how to use it.

Do you sell soap and fabric softener?

Yes.  We have a coin vend soap machine.

Do you have a change machine?

Yes.  We have a change machine that can change $20, $10 and $5 bills.  It will also change loonies to quarters and toonies to loonies.

Commercial Laundry Service FAQ

Do I need to sign a contract?
No contract is required.  We will earn your business each and every time we launder or repair your items.
How often do you pick-up and deliver?
We will work with each customer on an individual basis and create a schedule that works for you.  There is an extra fee for this service.
Do I receive my own items back? 
Guelph Cleaners and Alterations does not lease linens and other garments.  We wash all our customers’ orders separately and you will receive back exactly what you handed to us. 
Do we create an online account for our commercial business?
To create an account for your business, please contact us at 519-766-9682 or and we will create the account for you. We hope to be adding the ability to manage your account online in the near future.

Wash and Fold Service

Do you pick-up and deliver? How much is it?
Yes!  We now offer pick-up and delivery service.  Our Wash and Fold with delivery service is $1.50 / lb. We have a $30 minimum on all pick-up and delivery orders. Within Guelph area only.
Do I have to be home when you pick up or deliver my clothes?
No, but when scheduling the service, please provide clear instructions indicating where we can find your clothes and drop them off.  Please ensure that you have a secure space to leave your clothes and not visible from the street.  If you live in an apartment or condo complex, you can leave the clothes with the front desk attendant if they have one. If your building requires a code to enter, please inform us at the time of placing the order.
Do you fold or hang my clothes?
We are open to special requests. If you don't specify, we typically hang the more formal items, like shirts, blouses and slacks; then protect them with a clear plastic garment bag. We'll fold everything else and package it for protection.

Alterations and Repairs Service

How do I take pant measurements?
If you are measuring the length of a pair of pants that fit and using it as a guide, make sure you take both the outside leg and the inside leg measurement. This is because not all pants are cut the same, so for us to determine the cut of the pants and alter the pants to the correct length we need to know both measurements.

How long will my alteration take?
We will always try and fit the job completion around customers requirements where possible. We would normally request a few days or even a week for more complex alterations. Same day service is available on many alterations such as pant and skirt hemming.  At some times for an expedited service there is an additional charge.

Do I need an appointment to get my clothing altered?
No, an appointment is not required for any alterations.

Do you do embroidery?
No, we are not equipped with the proper machinery for embroidery.

Should my garments be washed before bringing them for alterations?
Yes, due to Health & Safety regulations, it is recommended that all garments (new and old) be cleaned/dry-cleaned prior to alterations.  If garments that are brought in to be altered are soiled we will launder them and an additional $10 fee will be charged for this service.

What is the difference between a Plain Hem and a Euro Hem?
A Plain Hem is when the bottom of the pants are folded and sewn together to create a new hem. The original hem will be lost.
Euro Hem is when the original pant hem is cut off, the pants are shortened to the desired length and the original hem is re-attached.
